# Journeys

> Create, publish, and manage each trip from first quote to confirmed operations in one Journey workspace.

## Overview

<Note>
  A Journey is the single workspace for a trip in Odia. Use it to build the proposal, share the public link, confirm the booking, manage services, send purchase orders, track tasks, and keep the traveller-facing page up to date.
</Note>

Before, proposals and itineraries were separate places. Now they are one Journey, so confirmed trips stay editable and you do not need to create or share a second itinerary link.

## Journey Stages

The Journey status tracks where the trip is commercially. You can update it manually as the booking moves forward.

| Status | When to use it |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **To Do** | New Journey, not yet being worked on |
| **In Progress** | Actively designing or revising the trip |
| **Sent** | A version has been sent to the client or travel agent |
| **On Hold** | Waiting for information, budget approval, dates, or a client decision |
| **Followed Up** | You have followed up and are waiting for a response |
| **Accepted** | Client or agent has accepted, but payment is not confirmed yet |
| **Confirmed** | Paid or operationally confirmed; ready for supplier operations |
| **Not Booked** | The trip did not go ahead |

<Note>
  Publishing is separate from the commercial status. A Journey can be **Sent**, **Accepted**, or **Confirmed** and still need publishing again if you saved changes after the last published version.
</Note>

## Public Link And Publishing

Every Journey has one public link once it has been published. You can keep sending the same link throughout the trip lifecycle.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Build or edit the Journey">
    Add services, update prices, change display settings, edit descriptions, or make operational changes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save your work">
    Saved changes update the Journey inside Odia.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish when the public link should change">
    Publishing creates a new version and moves the public link to that version.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the same link">
    The public URL stays the same. Travellers or agents can refresh it after you publish.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  If the header shows **Unpublished changes**, the public link is not showing your latest saved work yet. Publish again when you want clients or agents to see those changes.
</Warning>

### Version history

Each publish creates a numbered version: v1, v2, v3, and so on.

* The public Journey link opens the latest published version.
* Version-specific links stay locked to that exact version.
* Use version-specific links when you want to share different presentations, for example a version with prices and a version without prices.
* You can restore an older version as the current working copy if needed.

## Creating A Journey

Click **New Journey** or **Add Journey** from the Journeys screen.

Three fields are required:

* **Title** - internal name your team sees
* **Travel dates** - creates the Journey days
* **Guest count** - total number of travellers

You can fill in everything else now or later:

* Destination areas and area timeline
* Travel agent and commission
* Primary traveller and additional travellers
* Cover image
* Display settings such as hide prices, hide branding, or show total only

<Tip>
  Creating a similar trip? Duplicate an existing Journey from the row menu. It copies the trip settings, display settings, and services so you can adjust the dates, travellers, and content.
</Tip>

## Journey Builder

Use the **Journey Builder** to create the day-by-day trip:

* Add services from the Library, then arrange them within and across days
* Group services as **Options** (the client picks one) or **Bundles** (sold together as a package)
* Attach **variants** (different versions of one service, such as room types) and **add-ons** (optional extras)
* Add content cards, a proposal summary, and day summaries

<Card title="Journey Builder Guide" icon="diagram-project" href="/features/journey-builder">

</Card>

## Confirmed Journeys

When a Journey becomes confirmed, it stays in the same workspace. The status changes, but the trip does not become locked and you do not switch to a separate itinerary record.

For confirmed trips, use the same Journey to:

* Add or update services
* Send purchase orders
* Track service status: Ready, PO Sent, Confirmed, To Change, Cancelled, Completed
* Assign travellers to services
* Upload tickets and confirmations
* Create invoices
* Add tasks and manage communications

<Note>
  Confirmed Journeys still follow the publish rule. Save changes inside Odia, then publish when those changes should appear on the public link.
</Note>

### Correcting a service that was never in scope

Use **Cancel service** when a confirmed service was sold or operational and was later cancelled. It stays visible as cancelled so its operational history remains clear.

If a service was never part of the confirmed scope, an **Owner** can choose **Remove**, provide a reason, and remove it from the current Journey only. The correction is available only for a Ready, active, unpaid service on a confirmed Journey. Other roles see **Only the owner can remove** and cannot perform the correction. Historical published versions and audit history are preserved.

## Journeys Screen

The Journeys screen helps you find the right work quickly.

* **All journeys** shows the full pipeline
* **Confirmed** focuses on operational trips
* Filters help by date, owner, status, travel agent, archived state, and search
* Version buttons show publish history
* The public-link action opens the latest published Journey
* The preview action opens the internal preview and Journey Designer

## Journey Designer

Use the **eye** preview to control how the public Journey looks before publishing.

You can choose:

* Page layout: Flow, Timeline, Magazine, Split, or Condensed
* Card styles for supported layouts
* Display settings, including prices, branding, summaries, map, content cards, and category tags
* Cover image and service image cropping

Design changes are saved to the Journey, then go live on the public link when you publish.

## Export As PDF

Download the web Journey as a PDF when a client or your team needs a copy that works without opening the online link:

* Open the web Journey, then select the **three-line icon** in the top-right corner
* Toggle **Photos** and **Branding** on or off
* Select **Download PDF**

It always uses a Flow-style layout regardless of the layout selected in Journey Designer, and anyone with the Journey's public link can download it the same way.
